How to stay young at heart
Take a cue from the active youngsters in your life. Next time you spend time with your kids, grandkids, godkids, nieces or nephews, join in the fun. Playtime will help you feel
young again and, with activities that improve cardio, muscular strength and flexibility, can help you stayyoung at heart.
-
Games kids play.Get out the chalk and see who can create the biggest hopscotch, play a round or two of hide and seek (great indoors or out) or teach them the skipping games you remember from your own childhood.
-
Have a ball in the snow.A winter wonderland provides plenty of opportunity for frolicking — make a snowperson with a big carrot nose, create snow angels, or set up a snowball target practice range.
-
Life’s a beach. You don’t need much when you live by the water. Find your fun paddling or swimming together, making sand castles, beachcombing, or flying a kite.
-
Put it in park.Work the green space around you, with a game of Frisbee, hackeysack or tag.
-
Hit the playground. With teeter-totters, swings, monkey bars and jungle gyms, the local park is the perfect site for freestyle play.
-
The sporting life.If the kids are involved in organized sports like volleyball, soccer or hockey, help them with practice drills that improve their performance.
-
You got wheels. There’s something about being a tyke on a bike — maybe it’s time to dust yours off? And don’t overlook the adventures you can have together inline skating or skateboarding. (Hint: You don’t have to be good at it to have fun!).
