Benefits of being physically active

Did you know that only thirty minutes of moderate physical activity on most days of the week can lead to considerable health benefits:

  • It can reduce your risk of heart disease or dying prematurely.
  • Physically active people are also less likely to develop high blood pressure, diabetes, colon cancer or osteoporosis.
  • Regular physical activity helps control weight and will help you to stay in shape.
  • When you are more physically active, you benefit from improved mental health and well being – it reduces stress, improves self-esteem and helps you fall asleep (and sleep well) at night
  • Just by giving your metabolism a boost you can feel that you have more energy.

While 30 minutes of physical activity might initially sound like a lot, the good news is that as little as ten minutes of continuous physical activity, performed 3 times throughout the day, can have similar health benefits as 30 minutes performed all at once!
